Abstract
468,118. Photo-electric exposure control for photographic shutters. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Nov. 5, 1936, No. 30147. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1935. [Class 98 (i)] A combined focal-plane shutter and photo-electric exposure meter has its slit width adjusting means connected with the electrical resistance and the winding means connected with the sliding contact of the resistance, or vice versa, the slit adjusting and shutter winding means being connected by a releasable coupling. The resistance 1 is mounted on the slit-width adjusting disc 2, and the sliding contact 3 of the resistance 1 is secured to the shutter winding knob 4. A coupling pin 6 on the knob 4 can be inserted in bores 7 in the disc 2, the knob being lifted against the action of spring 5. The position of the pin 6 determines the relative angular position of two coupling pins 10, 11, the pin 10 being mounted on the driving disc 9 secured to the knob 4, and the pin 11 being mounted on a gear wheel 12 which is connected through bevel gears 17, 18 to the upper curtain 20 and its shaft 19. The lower curtain 27 is frictionally held by buckles 28 on bands 22 which are connected to the upper band 20 and to the spring urged rollers 24. Above the upper curtain 20 is mounted a catch 29 which engages a nose 38 on the lower curtain. When the blinds are wound by means of the knob 4, the lower blind is retained by the catch 24, and the upper blind moves by an amount determined by the position of the pins 10, 11 to form a slit which moves across the exposure window of the camera. Release of the curtains is obtained by a lever 31 which rotates a shaft 30 to liberate the catch 29. The lever 31 is swung about its pivot 33 by a pin 35 which can be forced downwards through the coupling disc 9, thrust rod 37 and release knob 36, the pins 10, 11, being simultaneously released. The film feed is connected to the disc 2 through gears 42, friction coupling 43 and a free wheel device 45.
