Abstract

467,995. Optical systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and LEVIN, N. Dec. 27, 1935, No. 35865. [Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XL] An elongated lens 2 of solid material has one end 2a in contact with a cathode ray tube, the surface 2a having the same curvature as the end wall of the tube, while the other end has a greater curvature and is preferably hemispherical. The tube may have a convex end wall. The lens may have one or more grooves 4 to prevent internal reflections and may have a diameter larger than the picture area on the fluorescent screen. The lens preferably has a length L=r (Á - 1) /Á, where r is the radius of curvature of the surface 2b, and Á is the refractive index of the lens material. Specification 417,435 is referred to.
