Abstract

467,546. Drawing. LEE, K. C., and GODWIN, E. H. Nov. 21, 1936, No. 31885. [Class 83 (iv)] Dies.-A die for drawing wire or bars comprises a number of sections 5 seated within a holder 1 having flat bearing faces 4 forming a tapered aperture. The die sections, having portions 6 which are parallel to the axis of the work, and inclined portions 6a, 6b, are faced with a layer 6c of hard material such as tungsten carbide. A clamping ring 7 is formed with passages 8 for coolant. Dust is excluded by a ring 14. The size of the aperture is adjusted and compensation made for wear by removing material from the sides 5a.
