467,422. Waterproof paper and pasteboard. INTERNATIONAL BITUMEN EMULSIONS, Ltd., MONTGOMERIE, J. A., and ARCHIBALD, P. K. Dec. 16, 1935, No. 34817. [Class 96] In a process for the production of water-tight and waterproof papers and pasteboards by adding to the paper material in the hollander or in the mixing vat water-repelling material, for example, asphalt, in the form of a very fine aqueous dispersion or emulsion produced or stabilized with the aid of caseinate, with or without the addition of resin size, or similar sizing material, followed by precipitation with alum or other precipitant there is added to the caseinate to the finished dispersion or to the paper material, before precipitation, a slurry of calcium hydroxide or hydroxide of other earth alkali. The aqueous dispersion of asphalt may be produced by the method described in Specification 226,032, [Class 81 (i)]. Specification 374,111, [Group III], also is referred to.
