Abstract

467,299. Eye shades. HARGREAVES, H. Dec. 10, 1936, No. 15615. [Class 97 (i)] An eye shade has a continuous rear edge 4 shaped to conform to the head, and a pair of curved forwardly-extending canopies 1, 2, connected by a light-intercepting bridge-piece 3 which is shaped to cut off rays which are not intercepted by the canopies. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 intended for attachment to a spectacle frame, the one-piece member comprising the canopies 1, 2 and the bridge 3 is riveted &c. to a spring strip 9 carrying rims 10 provided with clips 11 for attaching to the rims of the spectacles. Instead of the complete rims 10, partial rims having grooves for attaching them to the spectacles may be used. Fig. 6 shows a form which can be used without spectacles, the shade being carried by a frame comprising arches 14, a bridge 15, and side arms 16. The arches may be grooved to receive lenses or coloured glasses, or to fit over the rims of spectacles. The arms 16 may be telescopic and an auxiliary bridge piece, pivoted to the bridge 15, may be provided.
