Abstract
466,857. Clip fastenings. COPELAND, F. C. Dec. 5, 1935, No. 33771. [Class 44] [Also in Groups XVII and XI] A device for dispensing lighted cigarettes comprises a receptacle in which the cigarettes are stored and a slide within the receptacle which carries forward a cigarette into an accessible position. An ignition element moves with the slide and is energized through the agency of a switch inside the receptacle closed by the movement of the slide. The cigarette is pushed so that one end rests against the ignition element. A clamp for fastening the dispenser to the steering column of a car comprises a rigid yoke 51, Fig. 1, and a strap member 52 having interengaging parts, and tightened by a set-screw 59. The clamp is riveted to bracket 54 and may be twisted about the rivet to compensate for different inclinations of the steering column. A modified clamp comprises two yokes 82, 83, Fig. 17, held together by screws 86, the yokes, and the bolt 89 which secures the clamp to the bracket having spurs 88, 96 to penetrate the enamel and earth the igniter. Radial grooves on the bracket co-operate with a lock washer to hold the dispenser at any inclination. An ashtray may be carried on a second bracket, secured to the dispenser.
