[Class 83 (i)] Casting processes.-In order to avoid defects in castings due to oxidation during melting and casting this is done in a mobile container while it is traversed through an electric or other furnace c from which air is excluded. The metal may be placed in a container a having a perforated bottom and resting on the mould. The assembled unit is then mechanically conveved through the furnace c and a cooling chamber d charged with inert or deoxidizing or other gas which has either a desired effect or no bad effect on the metal.
