Abstract

466,249. Intensifying screens for radiography. KALI-CHEMIE AKT.-GES. Oct. 9, 1936, No. 27496. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1935. [Class 98 (i)] In an assembly comprising two fluorescent foils one on each side of a photographic film, the fluorescent material on the rear foil is entirely, or on the average, of finer grain than that on the front foil. The rear foil may contain grains as coarse as, or even coarser than those of the front film provided that they are mixed with sufficient finer grains to reduce the average grain size below that of the front foil. In an example using calcium tungstate, the front foil has a grain-size from 3 to 5Á, and the rear foil consists of a portion of the same grain-size mixed with an equal portion of grain-size 0À5 to 1Á. Reference is made to foils of calcium tungstate of different thickness or in different states of crystallization.
