Abstract
464,814. Electrodeposition of nickel, cobalt, and nickel-cobalt alloys. WEISBERG, Inc., L. March 4, 1936, No. 6553. Convention date, March 30, 1935. [Class 41] The metals are deposited from acid solutions of their sulphates and/or chlorides in the presence of formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde. An ammonium salt and a formate are preferably also present. A suitable alloy bath contains 240 gms. nickel sulphate, 45 gms. nickel chloride, 15 gms. cobalt sulphate, 45 gms. nickel formate, 1 gm. ammonium sulphate and 0À5-1À0 gms. formaldehyde per litre. The pH value should be 4-4À4. Specific baths for the deposition of nickel and cobalt alone are also described.
