Abstract
464,492. Wireless receiving-apparatus. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE. Dec. 9, 1935, No. 34103. Convention date, Dec. 10, 1934. [Class 40 (v)] Automatic gain control in a television receiver is effected by a special rectifier 13 independent of the usual rectifier 5 and amplitude filter 9. The rectifier 13 is excited by the synchronizing signal detected by the rectifier 5. The rectifier 13 is coupled to a lead 7 carrying the image potentials by a capacitative or inductive coupling which is preferably tuned to the synchronizing frequency and transmits no direct-current component so that the excitation of the rectifier 13 varies with the received field strength. The coupling may consist of a condenser 14 and resistance 15 of such a magnitude that detrimental capacities in the regulating rectifier do not affect the high-frequency potentials in the lead 7. A bias 17 on the circuit of the rectifier delays the initiation of the controlling action and is adjusted by varying the resistance 16 to produce the desired strength of reception. The detector 5 for the intermediate-frequency amplifier 2 is in the same bulb as, and directly coupled with, the filter 9 for separating the synchronizing signals, and the regulating rectifier is a separate valve, crystal detector, or contact rectifier. Specification 464,483 is referred to.
