Abstract

463,627. Resilient mountings. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-. (Buffalo Forge Co.) Aug. 28, 1935, No. 24093. [Class 108 (iii)] A resilient device for supporting a member, such as a machine or a platform on which a machine is rigidly mounted, comprises a screwthreaded bolt 10 rigidly secured perpendicularly to a supporting surface 12, which may be the deck of a vessel, and a cushioning element 20 comprising a centrally arranged U -shaped member 26 co-operating with a member 37 slidably mounted on the bolt, a resilient element 28 attached to the U-shaped member and also to two flange members 21 which are independently connected to the member to be supported. The threaded bolt 10 may be welded to a disc 11 secured to the floor or deck of a ship by threaded studs 13 and as shown, the base of the machine is provided with a horizontal flange 31 secured to arms 23, 23 of members 21, 22 of which the other arms 25, 25 are secured to rubber blocks 28 subjected to shear by the weight of the machine. The rubber is also secured to the legs 27 of the U-shaped member 26 which is supported on nuts 15, 16 and which is internally engaged by the tapered end 37 of a sleeve member 35 engaged at its upper end by nuts 17, 18. The machine is adjusted in level on the bolts 10 by means of the nuts 15, 17 which are locked in position by the nuts 16, 18. The cushioning elements may be reversed for supporting a machine from a ceiling, Fig. 2 (not shown), or the bolt 10 may be provided with a modified base for incorporation in a concrete foundation.
