Abstract

463,579. Valves. REDRUP, C. B. Nov. 21, 1935, No. 32271. [Class 7 (vi)] In an engine comprising a cylinder head 12 having a ported flat end face controlled by a flat rotary valve 32, a ported wear - resisting member 28 is arranged between the valve and said face and pressed axially by a pair of split sealing-rings 17, 18, one or both of which is provided with an outer conical surface. The invention may be applied to multicylinder engines of the kind described in Specification 398,821, in which the cylinders are arranged around and parallel to the crank shaft, and have end ports controlled by a flat valve, rotated from the crank shaft. In this case, the member 28 may be in one piece, or in segments with interengaging radial faces.
