[Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] In a platen printing-press the sheets are delivered from the press after printing by a reciprocating gripper device which also oscillates about an axis parallel to its reciprocatory movements so as to move with the platen. The grippers 11 at their lower end have an extension 11<b> pivoted on a bush 12 slidable along a bar 13 extending axially from the pivotal shaft of the movable platen. A guide member 14 on the extension 11<b> engages a bar 15 fixed to and extending laterally from the platen so as to cause the grippers 11 to move with the platen. Reciprocation of the grippers to and from sheet receiving position is effected by an oscillating toothed sector 23 driving a pinion 22 on a shaft 21 carrying a crank 20 pivoted centrally to a link 19 itself pivoted at its upper end to a member 16 slidable on the bar 13 and on a bar 18 and having mounted therein the bush 12. A roller 19<a> on the bottom end of the link 19 is adapted to engage a guide 33 directly below the shaft 21 as the crank 20 approaches the vertical to cause the members 19, 20 to cross over one another and thus increase the travel of the slide 16 and grippers 11. The grippers 11 are opened and closed by means of a spring-controlled lever 35 carrying a roller 35<a> engaging a cam 34 mounted on the bar 13 and oscillated by a cranked-lever 38 mounted on the bar 18.
