[Class 6 (ii)] In a tool for weeding &c. provided with claws or arms, the outer ends of which have holes or other means to receive a wire stretched tightly between them, the arms project in such directions that the wire at each side of at least one of the arms forms with the outer part of the arm an angle of at most 45‹. The arms 2, 3, 4, Fig. 1, project radially from a head 1 attached to the end of a handle, one arm 2 being longer than the others. The wire 6 passes through holes 5 in the arms, the hole in the long arm 2 being at some distance from the end, which is pointed so that the tool may be used like a pick. The arm 2 may fit into a socket 7 and may be adjusted by means of a screw 18 bearing against its inner end and provided with a head 8 and lock-nut 9. The other arms 3, 4 may be adjustable similarly or adapted to be lengthened. In a modification, the arms are curved so as to be resilient and the ends of the wire are connected to a pin or screw. This may be rotatable for tightening the wire. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the arms are flat and of equal length and the wire is tightened by means of a lever 13 pivoted on the head 1 or the handle 10, the wire fitting into a recess 20 and the lever being secured by a ring 21 slidable along the head 1. In another modification, there are four arms of circular, oval, rectangular, or other cross-section.
