Abstract
461,880. Photographic shutters. VOIGTLANDER & SOHN AKT.-GES. May 23, 1935, No. 15059. Convention date, May 24, 1934. [Class 98 (i)] In a shutter for photographic cameras, a motor or master member is adapted when running down to engage with a lever operatively connected with the retarding mechanism, and the lever is set by hand to different positions for varying the time of exposure, the frictional part of 'the retarding mechanism being disconnected whilst the lever is moved. The shutter operating mechanism is carried on an annular plate 3 and comprises a setting lever 5 for the master member 4, the arbor 6 being locked by a pawl 7 engaging a shoulder of a disc 8. The spring housing 9 is formed with a lug 10 which when released from a catch 11 is adapted to operate the shutter blades and engage the heel 14 of a pivoted lever 12 connected to the retarding mechanism. The opposite end of the lever 12 is formed with a toothed segment 15 meshing with a pinion 16 and connected through a train of gears 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 to a star-wheel 24 engaged by a rocking anchor 25. The pivot bolt 26 of the star-wheel 24 and the pinion 23 are mounted on the arm of a bell-crank lever 27. Concentrically with the shutter casing is mounted a setting ring 30 formed with a cam slot 32 engaged by a pin 33 on a lever 34, the other end of which loosely abuts against a pin carried by the lever 12. Rotation of the ring 30 thus sets the position of the heel 14. The ring 30 is rotated by a pinion 38 engaging with teeth 37 on the periphery of the ring 30. A milled disc 40 is integral with the pinion and is formed in two sections 40<1> so that it is readily rotated by hand. A semicircular lever 43 lies between the sections 40<1> and projects beyond the discs 40. The free end 42 of the lever 43 engages a spring-pressed plunger 46. To the plunger is attached a pin 49 which limits the movement thereof and is also in engagement with a lever 52 which at its end is formed with a slot 53. This slot engages a pin on the lever 27 so that pressure on the lever 43 acts to rotate the bell-crank lever 27 and bring the star-wheel 24 away from the anchor 25. When the operator's finger engages the milled disc 40, the starwheel is automatically disengaged and allows the lever 12 to be moved without any great resistance. The ring 30 is formed with notches 55 which are engaged by a spring pawl 56 for arresting the ring in position. In a modification, Fig. 9, the spring catch 56 is replaced by a pivoted lever 70, normally pressed into locking engagement with the disc 30 at one end and connected at its other end to a pivoted lever 74 carrying the star-wheel 24. Specification 365,753 is referred to.
