Abstract

Polymerization products of ethylene imines are applied to or incorporated with artificial fibres at any stage of their production or subsequently thereto. The polymerization products may be produced by the process described in Specification 461,354 wherein catalysts such as acid catalysts are employed. Cuprammonium, viscose, and cellulose acetate artificial silk may be treated. The polymerization products may be added to the spinning solutions or baths, or they may be applied to the artificial fibres before the latter are dried. C- or N-methyl, ethyl, butyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, or octodecyl ethylene imine are specified imines from which polymerization products are obtained. Artificial fibres containing these products are capable of being dyed with wool dyestuffs and they are of improved softness to the touch. In examples, products obtained according to the examples described in Specification 461,354 are added to the spinning solutions, or spinning baths used in the production of viscose or copper artificial silk, or applied to the formed fibres. They may be applied in emulsified form.
