Abstract
460,872. Re - recording sound - films. TOBIS TONBILD - SYNDIKAT AKT.- GES. July 24, 1936, No. 20521. Convention date, July 30, 1935. [Class 40 (ii)] Noiseless sound-film records are produced by first recording with transparent marking on an opaque film, re-recording from this primary film, and combining with the new record a modulation of the primary record obtained by scanning. The primary is made by recording the half waves as transparent areas on a dark background by means of a microphone 1 and a split-wave recording device 2. This is re-recorded by balanced cells 4, 5 on the film 6 and, in addition, a modulation band 8 is formed by a further cell 7 scanning the full width of the primary and having the current impulses smoothed. The cell 7 may be extended in the direction of the sound track so that its output may vary with the loudness of the recorded sounds and the currents from the cells 4, 5, and 7 may be superimposed in one recording device. The currents from the sound-scanning cells may be tapped and rectified to produce the noiseless control.
