Abstract

459,824. Apparatus for photographing teeth. HARTINGSVELT, H. VAN, 13, Isaac da Costalaan, Bussum, Holland. March 17, 1936, No. 8009. [Class 98 (i)] Apparatus for photographing the upper and lower jaws comprises a mirrror 1 shaped to rest on the teeth opposite the jaw being photographed attached to the frame of a camera in such a way as to form an undistorted image of the occlusal surface of the teeth. A second mirror 5, 15 may also be attached to the ‹ camera for insertion between the lip and cheeks and the teeth for photographing the outer surfaces, and a third mirror for insertion in the mouth to photograph the inner surfaces of the teeth. Fig. 1 shows diagrammatically the arrangement of the mirrors in relation to the objective 2 of the camera. The camera, Fig. 2, also carries an electric lamp 4 for illuminating the mouth, which is operated simultaneously with the shutter by a lever 12 actuated by the shutter-release closing electric contacts 14. Interchangeable mirrors 1, 5, 15 and supports 16 are provided for upper and lower jaws and for different shaped mouths. The inside surface of molars and premolars are photographed in a mirror formed from a metal strip bent to reflect both right and left surfaces attached to the camera or to the teeth by clamps.
