Abstract

459,671. Electrical hair - waving apparatus. THRIENE, E., 4, Jagerstrasse, Munich, Germany. July 22, 1935, No. 20831. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 21, 1936.] [Class 39 (iii)] An electrolytic heating device for use in permanent hair-waving comprises an inner metal foil electrode b and an absorbent layer c for the electrolyte enclosed in a perforated cellulose covering and surrounded on both sides by an outer electrode a, the sachet thus formed being adapted to be folded around a tress of hair z wound on a curler y. A contact plate provided with a pin f is provided for the inner electrode b, the plate being attached to a rubber sheet h and positioned between the cellulose covering and the electrode a. A slotted flexible contact plate n carrying a contact socket o is applied over the sachet in contact with the electrode a, and is covered by a rubber sheath q secured to the plate by a metal batten p: To eliminate the possibility of shocks to the person, the outer electrodes of all the devices in use on the head are connected together by a flexible uninsulated conductor engaging spring clips on the battens p. The conductor consists of a stranded copper core around which is a wire helix. Specifications 433,290 and 433,351 are referred to.
