This invention relates to a device for curling or Waving hair.
Many types of devices have been developed tor placing curls, waves or transformations in hair, but the use of such devices has very often caused the hair to be burned or scorched and in some cases the hair has been permanently injured.
This invention has for its salient object to provide a device of the character described that will produce, a lasting waveor curl in the hair without injuring or burning the hair..
-Further objects of the invention will appear from the following specification taken in connection with'the drawings, which forni a part ot this application, and in which lig. l is a longitudinal sectional elevation ot a curling rod constructed in accordance with the invention; and

rlhe invention briefly described consists of a curling rod or hair waving device having a heating element disposed centrally therein and preferably mounted on an asbestos core. rlhe heating element is surrounded by a tube formed ot metal, porcelain or other suitable material spaced from the element and the tube is in turn surrounded by a perforated sleeve termed of suitable material which is spaced trom the tube. The beating element may consist ot a high resistance wire and a connecting terminal may be provided at each end ot the rod, or both ends ot the vvire may be led through a single terminal. ln the slight modiiication of the invention shown in Fig. 2, the inner tube is surrounded by absorbent material, such as asbestos, Further details of the invention will. appear from the following description.

The perforated sleeve is mounted at its ends on the inner ends of the caps 20 and 2l and, as clearly illustrated, this sleeve is spaced from the tube 16.

Although cert-ain specic embodiments oit the invention have been particularly shown and described, it will be understood that the invention is capable of modification and that changes in the'construction and in 'the arrangement, ot the various cooperating parts may be made withoutv departing trom the spirit or scope of the invention, as expressed vin the following claims..
What claim is:
l. A hair Waving device comprising heating element, insulating means surrounding said element,a tube surrounding said insulating means, a covering of absorbent material on said tube, and a perforated sheath surrounding and spaced from said tube and covering.

A device ot the character described comprising a coil of high resistance heating vvire, a core ot insulating material in said coil, a sheathy ot insulating material surrounding said coil,y a tube surrounding said insulating sheath, a sleeve ol absorbent material surrounding said tube and a pertorated sheath surrounding`1 and spaced from said tube and Covering.
