Feb. 11, 1936, No. 4076. [Class 135] In a lift valve of the kind actuated by an outer rotatable sleeve D with an internal spiral or like groove or slot P engaging a part, such as the rod J, attached to the valve stem M, the valve member N has a domed or spherical surface co-operating with an annular seating washer L of resilient material such as rubber or leather so that the small lift necessary to open the valve fully is accomplished by a spiral slot of small pitch. The sleeve D is in two parts each having a spiral groove P and is received in an annular groove C on a housing member B screwed into a supply pipe A. The member B has a packing groove G and a groove H to receive a tapered tubular cover F which rotates with the handle R and the sleeve D. The rod J which passes through a hole in the valve spindle is prevented from rotating by vertical slots in the member B. The valve stem is guided by a webbed boss O. The valve member may be loose on the stem. The valve is arranged horizontally when actuated by a float in a flushing system. Specification 436,890 is referred to. The Provisional Specification shows a modification in which the valve seat is not resilient, the member B is abbreviated, and the guide O is dispensed with.
