Abstract

459,382. Saddles. STAITE, F., 83, Dearman Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham. Aug. 30, 1935, No. 24203. [Class 136 (iii)] A cycle saddle is provided with means for the admission and interior circulation of air for cooling and ventilating purposes, comprising an air inlet tube located within the peak and terminating beneath a longitudinal opening in the rear part of the saddle top for the upward flow of air about the seat of the user and the distributed circulation of air beneath the saddle top generally. The saddle, which may be of the type comprising a stretched spring top a fitted with a cover d of leather, felt, &c., and suspended on an underframe c, is formed at the front face d<1> of the peak with an opening to receive an air inlet pipe e adapted to be secured by a flange e<1> and rivets. The extremity e<2> of the tube e is cut obliquely so as to direct the air current upwardly. The saddle top is longitudinally and centrally divided at its rear part to provide a V-shaped opening f for the escape of air in an upward direction. The cantle plate c<2> is depressed, as shown at c<3>, at the centre beneath the rear part of the opening f.
