Abstract

458,201. Ventilators. MUIRHEAD, J., and MUIRHEAD, D. P., and MUIRHEAD VENTILATORS, Ltd., 1276, Maryhill Road, Glasgow. Oct. 3, 1935, No. 27274. [Class 137] In a ventilator comprising an upright ventilating shaft 3 of oblong cross-section extending into the open bottom of a rectangular box 8 closed at the top by a cover 7 and having louvres 13 in the upper part of its longer sides, parallel to which are spaced baffles 18, the spaces between the baffles and box are closed at the ends 6, and the baffles 18 extend level with or above the lowest or highest point of the cover 7. The lowermost louvres abut against the turned-out edges 3a of the shaft sides. Longitudinal partitions 24, 25 subdivide the upper and lower portions of the space between each baffle 18 and the side of the box into parallel passages intercommunicating in the zone opposite the louvres. The lower part of the partition 25 may be bent out and extend below the baffle 18, or inclined baffles 21, 22, 23, 26 may be arranged as shown. The ventilator may be divided by transverse partitions into unit lengths. Specification 427,904 is referred to.
