458,124. Actuation of switches; road-vehicle signals. MALEY, A. W., 4, Grosvenor Road, Handsworth, and TAUNTON, E. M., 90, Fitz Roy Avenue, Harborne, both in Birmingham. June 14, 1935, No. 17211. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XXXVIII] The actuation of either or both of two pneumatic brakes on a tramcar or other vehicle closes the circuit to a warning signal. The two pneumatic brake systems are connected respectively to two cylinders 1, 2 containing pistons 3, 4 connected by a cross-bar 14 pivoted at its centre to an arm 12 and acted on by a spring 15. When pressure is applied to either or both pistons 3, 4, the arm 12 is moved to the right and a toggle mechanism 10, 11, 12 is moved over dead centres under the control of a spring 13, causing a contact 5 carried by an arm 9 to slide to the left into the position shown in which it bridges contacts 6, 7.
