Abstract
457,219. Children's seat attachments for cycles. GLOVER, R. H., Fairfield, Watling Street, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Aug. 14, 1935, No. 22884. [Class 136 (i)] A child's seat for attachment to the rear of a cycle comprises a ring guard, for the child's shoulders or sides and back, which is adapted to be connected to the saddle pillar or seat tube of the cycle. Two spaced metal uprights have their upper portions 11 hinged at 13 to the main portions 12, the lower ends of which have openings to take over the ends of the wheel spindle 14. A triangular &c. seat 17 is supported at the upper ends of the members 12, and is provided with side bars 18, the front ends of which are detachably connected by brackets 31 to the rear fork 15. The upper parts 11 of the uprights support a back-rest 24 and a closed guard 25, which is detachably secured by nuts 30 to a screw-threaded rod 29 pivoted to a bracket 27 attached to the saddle pillar. Footrests 19 of part box-like form are attached to the uprights 12 by means of bolts 21 and holes 22, 23, which permit of height and angular adjustment. The plate portion 19<a> of each footrest keeps the child's foot out of contact with the wheel spokes. Modified means for attaching the front end of the seat to the cycle are described, and in one construction the seat part proper is detachably supported on the side bars 18 by hook-like projections on its base.
