Abstract

454,781. Endless - chain conveyers. EICKHOFF, A., (trading as EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI, GEB.), 176, Hunscheidtstrasse, Bochum, Germany. May 18, 1936, Nos. 14052, 14053, and 14054. Convention dates, Aug. 10, 1935, Dec. 27, 1935, and Jan. 20, 1936. [Class 78 (i)] In a conveyer of the kind in which pushplates are attached at each end to the links of oval link chains, each member, or pair of members, attaching a link to a push-plate is detachable from the push-plate. In one construction the attaching members c, Fig. 1, comprise a pair of fingers having flat eyes cl and broad strap sections c<2>. The eyes bear against the push-plate and are secured thereto by bolts d. The straps extend across the links a and are connected by bolts g. Projections f prevent the links from slipping between the fingers. When the push-plates and chain links are intended to assume a relatively inclined position, each finger may be provided with a projection h, Fig. 3, or a sleeve may be placed on the bolt g, to permit the necessary play. Each driving sprocket m, Fig. 5, is provided with passages n for the escape of foreign matter below the groove k receiving the upright links a'. When the push-plates are set obliquely with respect to the trough, the material can be discharged laterally by constructing the walls o, Fig. 9, so that sections can be removed or turned down. The obliquity of the push-plates may be obtained by passing one chain below and above a pair of guide discs arranged with their axes horizontal, or by relative displacement of the driving sprockets. In the latter case increased obliquity on the lower run is obtained by guide discs p<1>, q<1>, Fig. 11. The relative displacement of the sprockets can be obtained by mounting one sprocket free on its shaft and mounting on one of its faces a worm which engages a worm wheel fast on the shaft. By turning the worm the sprocket can be adjusted as desired. In a modification each sprocket is attached rigidly to a gear with oblique teeth which is driven from a corresponding gear on a lay shaft. One, or each, of the gears on the lay shaft is displaceable longitudinally by adjusting mechanism.
