Abstract

454,573. Photometers. BRITISH THOMSON, HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and DAVIES, B. R., 32, Craven Road, Rugby. April 2, 1935, No. 10247. [Class 97 (i)] A photometer, particularly intended for measuring the intensity of illumination of a road surface, comprises a translucent screen 11 through which the road &c. is observed. A small opaque reflecting area 10 of the screen receives light from a lamp 7 and diffusing screen 6 so that the reflected light from the lamp enters the observer's eye. The lamp 7 is carried by a tube 8 which is slidably mounted within a tube 9 so that the position of the lamp can be adjusted until the intensity of the reflected light is equal to that of the observed field. The adjustment of the lamp is indicated on a scale. Where accurate readings are required, a rheostat 15 and a milliammeter &c. 13 may be provided. Specification 15660/12, [Class 97 (i)], is referred to.
