Abstract
453,929. Electrically - heated pads and bandages. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Dec. 15, 1934, No. 36037. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 24, 1935]. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (iii)] Electrically-heated pads or bandages comprise resistance wires insulated with polymerization products of acrylic acid, or its esters, vinyl compounds or their esters, or derivatives or homologues of these substances, with or without fillers such as talc or lampblack, or softeners. The wires, for example nickel-chromium wire, may be covered with spun, braided, or felted asbestos, and may be laid between two sheets of a polymer secured together by moistening with a solvent such as acetone. Alternatively the wires, before sewing to heating pad material, may be threaded through tubes of the insulating material and the junctions thereof, together with thermostatic switches if provided, may be wound with strips of the material moistened with acetone or the like. A metal foil or sprayed metal coating connected to an earthed lead may be provided on the insulating material.
