[Class 146 (i)] In an arrangement for assembling card-indexes by means of strips, the strips carrying the cards are each provided with two opposed folds to receive the cards and which, for the formation of the composite carrier, are engaged in each other in such a way that any desired cards can be removed or inserted, alone or with their strips, from the carrier or from their strips. The strip may be made of celluloid or sheet metal and comprises a centre part 121, Fig. 1, and two flanges 13, 14 with folded margins 19, 20. The flanges and margins are engaged with each other by sliding endwise, and owing to the resilient pressure of the material can only be disengaged in similar manner. In the same manner the flanges grip firmly the cards 25, Fig. 6, which are provided with folded over edges 26. Embossed projections 29 limit sliding in one direction. By adjusting the relative length of the flanges and centre parts of the strips, the cards may be given a desired overlap or a visible index, or may be used for a vertical index. One of the flanges may be coloured or dulled to show when a card has been removed. Bands for a visible index are provided with an embossed or perforated hinge line 30 near the strips, and may have pockets or the like so that they can act as card carriers. Two sets of cards 24, 25 may be mounted to project in opposite directions. Documents may be filed between the cards 24.
