Abstract

451,149. Thermionic valves; valve generating circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. July 5, 1935, No. 19314. Convention date, July 5, 1934. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] In magnetron arrangements for generating very short waves by the negative resistance effect of the current to the anode sections, a pair 7, 8, Fig. 2, of anode sections is connected to at least two parallel-connected circuits 17, 18 oscillating in phase so that the capacity between the sections 7, 8 is shared between the circuits 17, 18, and the load on each circuit due to this capacity is reduced. The circuits 17, 18 may be parallel conductor systems with one only loaded, as at 21. The anode may have more than one pair of sections. The magnetron valve has a hammer-shaped envelope 1, Fig. 1, with opposed pinches 2, 3 for the leads from the sections 7, 8 to the circuits 17, 18 and with a third pinch 4 for cathode leads 10, 11 at right angles to the anode leads to reduce alternating voltages induced in the leads 10, 11 from the anode circuit. The envelope 1 is small in the direction of the axis of the cathode 9, and so of the magnetic field, so that the air-gap in the magnetic system is reduced. The sections 7, 8 are mounted on leads 5, 6 through the pinch 3 and connected to leads 13, 14 through the pinch 4 by sheaths 12, 12<a> and springs 15, 16. The leads 5, 6, 13, 14 extend at right angles to the axis of the cathode 9. To secure uniform emission along the length of the filament 9, its thickness is increased at its centre or heat radiation from its ends is reduced by protecting sheaths.
