[Class 36] A conductor comprises a core 1 of one metal and an outer part 6 of another metal separated by a waterproof insertion comprising a coating 2 of waterproof compound and a substantially complete covering of fibrous material constituted by a helical lapping 3 of one or more textile yarns impregnated with waterproof compound. An additional lapping 4 or lappings of impregnated textile yarn and a second coating 5 of waterproof compound may be provided. The core 1 may be of galvanized steel, the compound a pitchy material, the layers 3, 4 of impregnated cotton, jute or flax yarn and the outer part 6 of copper.
