[Class 99 (i)] [See also Group I] A water-closet basin 1 is mounted so as to be resiliently isolated from all external rigid parts, its inlet and outlet branches 10, 29 being attached to associated pipes or conduits by means of circumferentially corrugated flexible or resilient sleeves 12. The invention is more especially applicable in connection with basins liable to excessive shock or vibration, e.g. in warships. The basin is supported on a resilient base consisting of a thick pad 2 of soft rubber interposed between the lower edge and a metal plate 3 attached by bolts 4 to the floor 5. The basin is secured to the plate by bolts 6 passing through lugs 7 and separated therefrom by rubber bushes 9. The flexible connection for the inlet branch comprises a metal sleeve 12 having a single corrugation. A flange 15 at one end of the sleeve is riveted to a plate 17 and a two-port collar 21 having a beaded inner edge 21a. The hub 18 of the plate 17 is threaded to receive a gland nut 19 compressing a packing ring 20 to make a tight joint with the inlet pipe 11. The other flange 14 of the sleeve is similarly secured to a plate 22 and a two-part collar 23. A thick washer 13 of soft rubber is interposed between the ring 22 and a flange 25 on the basin. A two part flanged clamping ring 26 is secured around the inlet branch 10 by bolts 28, and bolts 27 are passed through this ring, flange 25, rubber washer 13, ring 22, flange 14 and collar 23. The inlet pipe 11 may extend into the branch 10, a clearance being provided between these parts and also between the pipe 11 and the sleeve 12. The branch 40 is connected to an air vent pipe and the outlet branch 29 to a discharge pipe 30 by similar connections. The sleeves 12 may have a number of circumferential corrugations.
