[Class 140] A heat- or sound-insulating board comprises a body 7 of loosely felted fibrous material such as kapok with indentations and projections which appear reciprocally on each face, and a waterproof coating 10, e.g. of asphalt, latex, rubber, synthetic rubber, or a natural or synthetic resin on one or both sides. A sheet or sheets of crinkled fibrous material such as crinkled or creped paper may be united to the board by the waterproof coating or coatings before indenting. The coated or compound board may be united to a plain metal sheet 11 or to the metal dashboard of a motor car by a waterproof adhesive such as rubber cement, asphalt, resin, &c., and may be provided on the coated side facing the driver's compartment with a covering, e.g. of wood or metal.
