449,442. Drying - apparatus. BENNO SCHILDE MASCHINENBAU-AKT. - GES., Hersfeld, near Cassel, Germany. Nov. 26, 1935, No. 32731. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1934. [Class 34 (ii)] In a drying-apparatus comprising superposed, annular, trays a mounted on a hub b adapted to rotate within a cylindrical casing c, the trays each comprising sector-shaped surfaces for supporting the materials to be dried and narrow slots which allow the material to fall progressively from the top to the bottom of the drier under the action of stationary strickle bars, relatively-narrow air-circulation shafts c<1> are provided at opposite sides of the casing and are entirely open to the drying space. Blowers d arranged one above the other in the shafts. are relatively staggered, as shown, and alternate with heating units h. The arrangement is such that each blower delivers air across a group of trays to an oppositely-situated outlet which is within the suction zone of a blower in the opposite shaft. Air is taken in at f and discharged at g. Doors may be provided in the casing c to give access to the trays. In a modification, four circulation shafts, equally spaced about the casing, are provided. Blowers in opposite shafts are at the same height, but are staggered in relation to the blowers in adjacent shafts, so that each blower delivers air across a group of trays to outlets at right angles to it.
