Abstract

297,480. Cowan, H. W. Sept. 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Rotary supports; air, controlling circulation of. -The lumber &c. is treated in a chamber with air at a temperature of, for example, 200‹ F., the temperature initially falling 20‹ to 30‹ due to the evaporation of moisture from the lumber and being raised to 200‹ F. at which stage it is withdrawn and replaced by fresh air at the initial temperature. The lumber is stacked upon a turntable 3 in a chamber having an air inlet compartment 12 with steam coils 13 and an air outlet compartment having pivoted slats 27 and a fan 10, the slats being automatically opened and closed periodically through pin-and-slot mechanism from the fan-shaft.
