[Class 138 (i)] A dish-washing machine comprises a dish rack and at least two spraying arms disposed opposite different sides of the rack, each arm being mounted to swing forwards and backwards about an axis and being provided with spraying orifices arranged so that the jets issuing from the orifices are directed substantially parallel to said axis. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, a vertical pipe 42 extending from a tank 40 containing liquid is provided with two pairs of spray pipes 43, 44. The pipe 42 communicates with a pump 45 adapted to be driven by an electric motor 47 whereby liquid is forced through spray pipes. A pipe 43 is provided with a deflecting plate 50, Fig. 4, having pivotal movement which is limited by stops 54. The shaft 51 to which the plate 50 is secured has a cranked end 57 adapted to be engaged by fixed abutments on the machine casing. A jet of liquid 55 impinging on the plate 50 causes the spray pipes to move about the axis 46 until the crank 57 encounters an abutment, whereupon the plate 50 is tilted and the jet 55 produces reverse movement of the spray pipes. The spraying fields sprayed by the arms 43, 44 overlap one another. Specification 446,490 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a construction shown in Fig. 10 (Cancelled) in which dishes in a rack 22 are sprayed by jets from pipes 70, each pipe being partly surrounded by a screen 72 which is adapted to be oscillated through connection to a reciprocable rod 87, Fig. 13 (Cancelled). The rod is provided with pins 86 engaged by the end of a pivotally-mounted rod 83. The rod is adapted to be oscillated by means of a cam disc 80 which is rotated by the electric motor 78 which drives the pump supplying liquid to the jets. In a further construction described in Specification 446,490, the pump is surrounded by a vertical spray pipe communicating with two horizontal spray pipes, the pipes being oscillated about the longitudinal axis of the vertical pipe. In further constructions, the spray pipes are horizontal and are oscillated about horizontal axes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
