Plates, dishes, and the like, washing. - A machine of the type in which the dishes resting on a support are cleaned by jets of washing or rinsing liquid, comprises a casing 1 provided with a false bottom 11 carrying a pivotally-mounted drain pipe 12, and with two adjacent reservoirs 2a, 2b containing, respectively, washing and rinsing liquid, means being provided whereby the movement of the drain pipe to a position of discharge over one of the reservoirs automatically enables the dishes to be sprayed by the liquid pumped from that reservoir. In the construction shown, the pipe 12 is adapted to be swung by a fork 13 connected to a shaft 14 which is provided with a crank 16 connected by a link 17 to a handle 7. The handle is attached to a three-way cock 6 which is adapted to place the pump 5 in communication with the washing solution in the reservoir 2a or with the rinsing solution in the reservoir 2b. The arrangement is such that actuation of the handle results in the pipe 12 being placed over the reservoir from which liquid is being pumped to the spray nozzles 9, 10. The support 22 for the dishes is rotatably mounted and is rotated by the impact of the sprays against the dishes.
