Abstract

536,779. Dish washing machines. HOBART MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 12, 1940, No. 763. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1939. [Class 138 (i)] In a dish-washing machine in which washing water and rinsing water are sprayed in turn on to the dishes from arms rotated by the reaction of the jets, the rinsing arms can rotate independently of the washing arms but are rotated when the latter rotate. The washing water is supplied through a pipe 37 to the arms 19 which rotate on a central stem 41 and are provided with apertures 52, 56. The rinsing arms 70 are mounted on the same stem and are supplied from a pipe 23. The washing arms slide slightly up the stem when the water pressure is on and over-running clutch members 90 are engaged to drive the rinsing arms. When the washing water is turned off, the arms fall and free the clutch so that the rinsing arms are rotated separately when the rinsing water is turned on. The clutch elements are arranged so that the rinsing arms occupy a position at right angles to the washing arms when driven thereby.
