[Class 52 (ii)] A folding seat comprises two longitudinal bearers 20, Fig. 1, braced by a cross tie 21, a pair of legs 24 braced by cross ties 25, 26 and pivoted to the bearers 20, and a pair of rear legs 28 braced by a cross tie 29. The cross ties 25, 29 form abutments to limit the inclination of the legs. The back frame consists of uprights 32, braced by a cross tie 33, preferably cut away or arched at the front, and hinged to stirrups 30 fixed to the side members 20. Adjustment is provided by struts 35 pivoted to the uprights 32 and connected by a cross - member 36 which engages notches 37. Arm-rests 42 supported at the front by links 44 may be provided. The seating surface and the back rest consist of canvas stretched between the side members, and the cross ties are so placed and shaped that the canvas does not come into contact therewith. Fig. 3 shows the seat folded. A modified construction is shown in Fig. 5, in which the front legs 71 are pivoted to the main frame at 70 and continued upwards to carry the arms 74, and the rear legs 62 are pivoted to the main frame by withdrawable pins 65, and are continued upwardly and pivoted to the back. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a folding X- frame stool, comprising frames 49, 50, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), and a fabric seat 57, which is adapted to fit within the folded chair frame, and to be used as a foot-rest. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
