Abstract

447,269. Refrigerators. JOHN, R., Hotel Roosevelt, Madison Avenue, 45th Street, New York, U.S.A. Nov. 9, 1934, No. 32294. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1933. [Class 29] A refrigerator comprises a pair of food compartments A and B separated by a horizontal partition 14<1> which prevents air passage between the compartments, ice freezing compartments 12 being disposed in the cabinet and a single evaporator 11 being exposed to the atmosphere of each compartment to cool the same. An opening 19 in the partition allows the air of the lower compartment to come into contact with the evaporator 11 but a gasket 21 prevents air circulation between the compartments through this aperture. Adjustable louvres 25 regulate the circulation of air in contact with the evaporator surface and thus regulate the cooling of the lower compartment. Moisture condensing on the evaporator 11 drains into a channel formed by a flange 22 and then passes by pipe 23 to a tank 24. The partition 14<1> is made of good heat-conducting material. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to U.S.A. Specification 1,830,034.
