Abstract
447,138. Insulators. JENKINS, G. M. O., Bodena, Arkley Drive, Arkley, Hertfordshire. Nov. 28, 1934, No. 34176. [Class 36] An insulator, particularly for supporting the feeder lines of radio relay systems, comprises a body portion adapted to be secured to a bolt or other support and provided with a plurality of rings adapted to receive the line conductors and rotatably mounted upon the outer surface of the body portion. As shown, a cylindrical body portion 10 having an annular flange 11 is supported by a shoulder 14 on a bolt 12 which passes through a central aperture in the body portion. The body portion, upon which is rotatably mounted a plurality of circumferentially grooved conductor-receiving rings 15, is secured to the bolt 1, 2 by a cap 13 which screws on the bolt. The cap has a conical projection 18 which fits tightly into a conical recess in the body portion. The rim of the cap may clamp the rings 15 against the flange 11. A bell-shaped member 17, which may be of synthetic resin, casein, rubber, or guttapercha, may be provided between the shoulder 14 and the body portion to increase the leakage path of the insulator. The rings 15 may each have a plurality of grooves, or the rings may be so shaped that a groove is formed between adjacent rings.
