Abstract

446,097. Feeding webs. CLEMO, F. A., 9, Kingsway, London.-(Wood Newspaper Machinery Corporation; 501, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 23, 1934, No. 30345. [Class 100 (i)] A web-roll supporting device having pairs of web-roll supporting arms mounted for conjoint rotation about a common axis is characterized in that one arm of at least one pair is adjustable in a direction longitudinal of the axis independently of all the other arms. As shown, two pedestals 10 support a powerdriven rotatable shaft 11 which has fixed thereto a central frame 12 having three slotted sides. Three web rolls are supported by three pairs of arms 14, each arm having a T-slot adapted to slidably engage one of the sides of the frame 12. Each arm has provided in the T-slot a screw-threaded projection 15 adapted to project into one of the slots of the frame 12 and to be engaged by a screw 16. The screws 16 can be rotated through gearing 18 from motors 20 mounted on the frame 12. Operation of any of the six motors 20 will rotate its screw 16 to cause one arm 14 to move forward or backward along the shaft 11.
