Abstract

446,000. Ironing-machines. BURGESS, A. F., 10, New Court, Lincoln's Inn, London.- (Electric Household Utilities Corporation; West Cermak Road, Chicago, U.S.A.) Nov. 9, 1935, No. 31081. [Class 138 (ii)] An ironing-plate 12 is pivoted to a lever 18 which itself is pivoted to and solely supported by a lever 21 and a link 27 of which the former, when rocked about its pivot 23, reciprocates the iron horizontally across a resiliently supported work table 11, and the other is pivoted to a triangular lever 30 which, when rocked about its pivot 32, raises and lowers the iron from and on to the work table. The lever 21 is constantly rocked by an arm 26, one end of which is provided with a strap engaging an eccentric 45 on a shaft driven from the shaft 37 of an electric motor through reduction gear. The triangular lever 30 is. rocked by an arm 34 also formed with a strap engaging an eccentric 50 which may be driven by the shaft through a clutch under the control of the operator, a bar 60 extending along the front of the work table being provided for operating the clutch.
