Abstract

In the process of drying a cake of artificial threads, filaments, and the like from the inside by leading the drying medium along the inner walls of a cake, pressure is constantly applied to the ends of the cake during the period of drying, to prevent drying air passing between the ends of the cake and a pressure-transmitting plate or other cake placed against such end. The pressure may be applied by a spring or by one or more threaded rods and bolts. Specification 425,754 is referred to.
