[Class 100 (iv)] A holder for one or more auxiliary inkribbons for use in duplicating is mounted on the platen of a typewriter and can be moved into operative or inoperative position by turning the platen. In the holder shown in Figs. 2 and 3, a ribbon 1 is secured by clamps 4 to curved arms 3 on a rod 2 which is mounted in ears 16, 17 on spring clips 15 adapted to engage the platen 22. To permit of adjustment for platens of different sizes, the ears are formed with a number of holes 19 for receiving the rod. The bars 16 have recesses 18 for receiving the paper-bail 21. The clamps 4 consist of a spring blade secured at the front to the arm 3 and provided with a slide 6 which is pushed beneath lugs 7 to hold the blade in contact with the arm. To increase the grip, the blade is formed with a slot 8 which fits over a rib 9 on the arm and forms a double bend in the ribbon. A depending lip 10 on the blade holds the ribbon in contact with the platen. Another ribbon 12 is clamped to arms 13 on an angle-bar 11 having spring clips 14 for engaging the rod 2. When the arms 13 are turned backwards, the angle-bar engages the platen and thereby limits the movement. In use, the paper-bail is raised, the sheets are inserted, and one hand is employed to turn forwards the platen, the holder being arrested by contact of the ears with the apron P, and the spring clips thereafter slipping on the platen. The ribbons are then introduced between the sheets, the platen is turned backwards to bring the ribbons to the printing line, and the paper-bail is engaged with the notches 18.
