[Class 38 (v)] A multi-pole switch comprises a plurality of fixed contacts 50 arranged in a circle on an insulating base 25 and a plurality of movable contacts 72 mounted on a rotatable member 42, each movable contact being capable of moving in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the member 42 and also having a rocking movement thereon, both movements being resiliently controlled, and the movable contacts being arranged to present mutually inclined surfaces to the fixed contacts so that circuits are closed over adjacent fixed contacts in an operative position of the switch. The member 42 carrying the movable contacts is secured to a rotatable shaft 36 and carries a disc 41 with a stop 29 which moves between fixed stops 33, 34 to limit the rotation of the shaft. The fixed contacts 50 are formed of wire, which may be of polygonal crosssection, the wire being threaded through holes in the base 25 and secured by bending over one end 48, while the other end 53 may be bent up to form a terminal lug, as shown in Fig. 2. The movable contacts 72 are preferably in the form of spherical segments, and in one form, Fig. 7, each contact is engaged by the pointed end 71 of a pin 70 slidably mounted in an eyelet 67 in the rotatable member 42, a conical spring 73 being mounted between the eyelet and a disc 70<a> on the pin. In a modification, Fig. 8, each movable contact member 76 is hollow, and a conical coil spring 75, which may be of wire or flat ribbon, is mounted with its longer end supporting the contact member and its smaller end engaging a pin 78 carried by the rotatable member 42.
