444,177. Television; wireless receiving systems. AGATE, C. S., 33, Dornton Road, South Croydon, and PERCIVAL, W. S., 6, York Mansions, York Avenue, Hanwell, Middlesex. Aug. 15, 1934, No. 23591. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In a wireless or like receiver for a carrier wave modulated in opposite senses by two sets of signals (e.g. by image and synchronizing signals), the signals of one set occurring in intervals between the signals of the other set, separate demodulating detectors are provided for the two signals, the output of one being in the opposite sense to the output of the other. In the television receiver described, the carrier in strengthened by image signals and weakened by synchronizing signals, but if frequency modulation is used, the image signals may be represented by frequencies above normal and the synchronizing signals by frequencies below normal, or vice versa. The image signals, passing through the detector 7 and series load resistance 13, are applied through potentiometer 11 to the modulating electrode 17 of the cathoderay tube in a direction to make this electrode more positive. The synchronizing signals pass through condenser 20 and detector 21, shunted by a load resistance 25 connected to the grid of a separator valve 26 biassed to cut off the anode current except when synchronizing signals are received. The output circuits of the two detectors may have frequency characteristics suited to their respective purposes. Specification 422,824 is referred to.
