Abstract
443,175. Snap-action switches. SEAWRIGHT, G. B., c/o Arrow Electric Switches, Ltd., Hanger Lane, Ealing, London. Dec. 13, 1934, No. 35822. [Class 38 (v)] In a rotary step-by-step switch in which rotation of a spindle 10 actuates snap-action mechanism which drives a spindle 9 carrying contact blades 3, 4, the snap-action mechanism is contained in a casing 2 which is readily removable from the main casing 1. The spindle 10 has fixed to it a finger 29 which lies between the ends of a spring 27 which also engages a finger 26 on a member 23. Rotation of the spindle 10 strains the spring 27 and tends to drive the member 23, but this movement is prevented by a member 19, which slides in a slot in the member 23, engaging projections on a fixed plate 16. Eventually, rotation of an eccentric 20 fixed to the spindle 10 moves the member 19 clear of the projections and the members 19 and 23 then rotate rapidly through 90‹, carrying with them the spindle 9 which has a square section and fits into a square hole in the member 23.
