443,088. Clockwork actuation of switches. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES., 1, Hofstrasse, Zug, Switzerland. Sept. 19, 1935, No. 25993. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1934. [Class 38 (v)] A clock or electric meter or other apparatus drives through gearing a wheel 5 which in turn drives a wheel 10 mounted on a weighted arm 8 ; a fly 11 fixed to the wheel 10 and engaging a stop 12 prevents rotation of the wheel 10 about its axis, so that the effect of the rotation of the wheel 5 is to lift the wheel 10 and arm 8 bodily till the fly 11 is clear of the stop, whereupon the wheel 10 rotates through half a revolution until it is again brought to rest by the stop 12 and a crank 13 and pin 14 fixed to the wheel 10 cause the oscillation of a mercury tube switch 17 pivoted at 22. For this purpose the pin 14 engages a slot 15 in the carrier of the mercury tube switch. In moving from one position to the other, the mercury switch may momentarily close a circuit. Current is led to the contacts of the mercury tube by two spiral springs at opposite sides of the mercury tube which springs act in opposite directions on the tube.
