Abstract

442,886. Safety razors. SCHMIDT, A., 71, Jermyn Street, London. Aug. 17, 1934, No. 23766. [Class 30] In razors fitted with rings adapted to receive a ribbon blade, the blade casings 2 are integral with the handle 1 and are located one on each side thereof, they are also integral with the guard 4 over which a presser plate 8 is removably mounted. The ends of the blade 9 are attached to rings 10, 11 adapted to be mounted for rotation on stub shafts 17 on the casings 2, the winding - up ring 11 being held against reverse rotation by a ratchet 25, 26 and the other ring 10 being free. The blade is held down on the guard 4 by a presser plate 8 having ears 8<a>. The rings are mounted in housings 13 having covers 16, 16<a> carrying hollow shafts 15, 24, adapted to engage over the stub shafts 17 on which they are retained by springs 15<b>. The shaft 24 is square and supports the ring 11. A fresh cutting edge is therefore obtained by turning a knob 23<a> pinned to the shaft 24, reverse movement being prevented by the ratchet. A vernier 27 on the winding on housing cover 16<a> in conjunction with studs 28 indicates the amount of blade taken up.
